A day-long retreat honoring and celebrating women’s religious leadership in a beautiful sacred setting.  Enjoy a panoramic view of the San Francisco Bay and peaceful outdoor spaces including a labyrinth.

If you are living out your call (already ordained/serving in religious leadership), currently in seminary or alternative ministry preparation programs, have discerned a call, or are discerning/wrestling with a call to ordination, priesthood and/or religious leadership, come spend time in the company of your sisters on the journey!  Share a restful sabbath with opportunity for prayer, reflection, solidarity,  and bearing witness to each others stories.

This unique retreat has been created for: women who come from, who were raised in,  and/or who are currently in Christian traditions and denominations which do not allow the full participation of women in religious leadership.   This retreat day is offered especially for (but not limited to) women from Roman Catholic, Seventh Day Adventist, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Southern Baptist, Lutheran – Missouri Synod, and Swedenborgian – General Church.

All participants will covenant to respect the confidentiality of other participants in light of the consequences many of our sisters face in their religious communities.  Retreat will be led by Joellynn Monahan, Abbess of Heart of Wisdom Monastery, a radically inclusive and diverse pop-up monastery for non-monastics in the heart of the Bay Area.  Women of all ages, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, abilities, and gender expressions are an integral part of this Heart of Wisdom community on retreat.

*due to the nature of the retreat, participants should plan to be present for the entire time

*carpooling will be available

*tea and snacks will be available all day, retreatants will bring a brown bag lunch
