In this ministry, I accompany diverse people as we pay attention to the Source(s) of their faith and spirituality, bear witness to life in all its beauty and terror, and practice living more authentically and fully by engaging spiritual practices & finding beloved communities of belonging.
Some particular gifts of my spiritual direction ministry:
- cultivating an embodied faith/spirituality & spiritual practices which nourish the whole person including:
- incorporating Sabbath & sustainable spiritual practices in everyday life
- paying attention to our encounters & experience with the Sacred over time
- trusting both laughter & tears as signs of Presence with us
- offering ritual/sacraments upon request as a part of spiritual direction
- providing spiritual sustenance for ordained religious leaders, religious professionals and those preparing for religious leadership including:
- tending to the spiritual lives of Christian, Jewish, Unitarian Universalist, Buddhist, & multifaith leaders serving in congregational & non-profit settings
- accompanying those training & being formed as spiritual directors / guides
- supporting chaplains / spiritual care providers in hospice, hospitals, education & military settings
- guiding religious leaders who are formed in faith by more than one religious tradition
- nurturing the spirituality of young adults, especially religious leaders under 40
- healing trauma of oppressive, exclusionary, abusive religious & spiritual communities including:
- affirming the spiritual lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, non-binary, intersex & queer people
- helping interfaith & multi-faith families / partners navigate complex religious & spiritual lives
- advocating for those called to religious leadership who are denied the opportunity to offer their gifts in service to their faith community / faith tradition because of their gender or sexual orientation
- discerning vocation/meaningful work & finding spiritual resources for a sustainable work / life balance including:
- helping social justice advocates & activists ground their leadership in faith
- mentoring new spiritual directors / guides as they establish their ministry
